Exchange with Research and Academic Institutions in Fujian

Representatives of the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel went on exchange with Fujian Provincial Department of Science and Technology and Minjiang University on 27 May 2011. To better understand the local industry’s development and its R&D strength, the representatives visited Fujian Research Center of Textiles and Apparel and some teaching and research facilities at the Minjiang University.

Mr Sun Tao, Director of Business Development, introduced a series of HKRITA’s successful research projects which are ready for commercialisation and their arrangements of non-exclusive licenses. These projects are Nu Torque™ Singles Ring Yarns Technology, High Performance Sportswear and Devices, a 2D Barcode and RFID-enabled Mobile System for Garment Accessories and Fabric Inventory Management, a Smart Fashion Sales Forecasting System for Fashion Retail Industry, Energy-saving and Environmental-friendly Production of Brassiere Cup, a Innovative Wet Finishing System for Garments and a Problem Solving Model for the Hong Kong Textiles and Clothing Industries. The participants were particularly interested with the 2D Barcode and RFID-enabled Mobile System which is efficient, effective and highly visible, and the Smart Fashion Sales Forecasting System which can generate accurate and reliable sales forecasts in order to help buyers conduct sales forecasts and buy plan
