Launching of Fabric Touch Tester in ShanghaiTex 2013
Fabric Touch Tester is an innovative measurement device newly presented by The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel, developed by Prof Li Yi and his research team with members including Dr Hu Junyan, Mr Liao Xiao, Mr Li Quanhai, Mr Wu Xinwing and Ms Zhang Sujian of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The tester is able to measure multiple physical properties of fabric specimens including thermal transmission, bending, compression and surface friction aspects in both warp and weft directions in one single trial. Software with integrated prediction models is also designed to calculate touch feeling scores for fabrics. Industry can make use of these deliverables to develop a set of guidelines or product standards in term of touch feelings for specified products, thus eliminating disagreements or subjective arguments about this issue. The Fabric Touch Tester has just won a gold medal with the congratulations of jury in the 41st International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva in April 2013.
SDL Atlas Limited is the official licensee of the tester manufacturer. The Tester will be displayed in SDL’s booth (booth no. W3J31) during ShanghaiTex 2013 from 10 to 13 Jun 2013. To further promote this Tester to the industry, a product launch will be organised in the ShanghaiTex. Details are:
