Design and development of an intelligent automation system enabling fast customization shoe-making

This project aims to develop an intelligent automatic shoe fabrication system to produce pairs of customized Ladies flat shoes according to the foot data of each customer in 2 hours. Different technologies including 3D scanning, auto-adjusting shoe last, 3D printing, automation and robotics will be applied on the system development in order to shorten the production lead time of the fabrication process, reduce the cost and also support an innovative business model. Furthermore, a database of the foot data of Hong Kong people will be developed which is beneficial for the footwear industry to design local tailor-made shoes or further application using the auto-adjusting shoe last. As a result, it will help improve the productivity of the footwear industry and also enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong footwear manufacturers in the world market.
